Talking about things that close to me in the process of making the artwork can provide the flexibility to carry a wide range of topics to the deeper point. This point is capable to become a basic foundation to catch larger things. For examples such as trying to find out about the events or things that ever happened and ever physically or non-physically had affected the perspective of how people interacting as individually or in groups on a place.
Many times I use themes about my hometown Rembang, a small town on the extreme northeast coast of Central Java province, on the island of Java at the Java Sea, Indonesia; that becomes source of inspiration in making my artworks.
I have an interest in assembling a wide variety of material (material assembled) such as wood, iron, metaland other materials to make new visual forms. The tendency of this technique is the effect of the activitiesof carpenters who often I see almost every day in my childhood. Activities in the making of the artworkwere not at accordance with the education background that I have, but the techniques gained from experiences in childhood that I manage today. Although sometimes I use the medium of photography in the process of making the artwork, which is a formal educational background that I have.
Besides working as a visual artist, I also developed a side project that applied into functional and applicative product named WOODAPPLE. Not only focusing in producing products, WOODAPPLE it self becomes an open space for anyone who wants to learn and has an interest in wood and mixed media.
